Mocs Win Three of Four on Final Day at UNCW

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s tennis team closed out the UNCW Fall Invitational with wins in three of its finals four matches on Sunday.  The Mocs won a backdraw in both singles and doubles to finish out the first tournament of the fall season. 

Junior Pavels Grigorjevs (Riga, Latvia) teamed with freshman Derrick Brown (Marietta, Ga.) to win the backdraw of the doubles Flight B.  They defeated Liberty’s Stan Vaugh and Alejandro Thomas (9-7). 

Freshman Marco Morealli (Pilar Argentina) won the backdraw in the Flight B singles.  He posted a (6-1, 6-1) win over UNCW’s Christiaan van der Burgh.  Brown won his third place match in the D Flight, a (6-1, 6-1) victory over UNCW’s Matt Kealy. 

The Mocs are back in action at the end of the month, hosting the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic.  Action takes place Sept. 27-29 at the Champions Club in Chattanooga.
