MOCS MEN’S GOLF NOTEBOOK
Golfweek Conference Challenge | Round 1 | Sept. 15, 2013
After taking his most inexperienced squad to the Carpet Capital, Mark Guhne has quite the veteran presence in the schedule’s second event. This week has three seniors and two freshmen after opening with senior Davis Bunn and freshmen Wes Gosselin (redshirt), Ewan Scott, Brooks Thomas and Stuart Thomas. That five-some entered the season with 84 rounds of collegiate experience. This week’s quintet of Bunn (84), Scott, Brooks Thomas, Chris Robb (99) and Benni Weilguni (84) had 267 rounds entering 2013-14.
“It’s the way qualifying worked,” Guhne said. “I was excited with our first lineup and like the competition that’s there to play week-in, week-out. Each one of our guys have to be ready to compete in practice. That can only make you stronger in tournament play.”
STRONG GROUPS OPEN EVENT
Chattanooga was paired with a couple of strong programs. Host Iowa, Virginia Tech and the Mocs traversed Spirit Hollow’s 7300+ yards Sunday.
FINAL SIX HOLES COSTLY
