CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer team reported to campus more than a week ago and is gearing up for the 2014 season with two-a-day field workouts coupled with conditioning sessions.
The team reported on August 5 for move-in and team dinner with head coach J.D. Kyzer. The following day was filled with housekeeping items such as meetings with athletics administration, paperwork, receiving uniforms, physicals and team photos.
After a fitness test Wednesday night, the real work started. Since last Thursday morning, the team has risen before the sun to arrive at Finley Stadium for their first two hour training session. That is followed with team lunches, dinners and afternoon conditioning sessions before the day wraps up with a final training session back at Finley as the sun sets over Lookout Mountain.
Training has now dropped to just once a day and the team will be off Monday for the first day of classes. The season opens Friday, August 22 at UNC Asheville. After a second road game at Austin Peay, the Mocs will open the home slate Friday, August 29 against Tennessee Temple at Finley Stadium. Admission is free and concessions will be available.
