SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga redshirt freshman Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario) was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the week as well as the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week the league office announced late Wednesday.
Henderson ran a school-record 16:13.03 in the 5000 meter at the prestigious Stanford Invitational winning her heat by more than 18 seconds. She led the race from start to finish and topped the previous school time by more than six seconds set by Kathleen Turchin at the 2007 NCAA Championships.
She was selected the league’s NECL Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance in the classroom. The Business Management major holds a 3.87 GPA. She was selected the Student-Athlete of the Week in November during the cross country season.
The Running Mocs will head to Cullowhee, N.C., this weekend for the Catamount Classic on the Western Carolina campus.
