Henderson Declares for 5000m at NCAA East Region

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga redshirt freshman Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario) qualified for both the 5K and 10K for the upcoming Outdoor Track and Field NCAA East Region Championships. She declared for the 5K this week and will run Saturday, May 31.

Henderson set a school record of 16:13.03 in the 5000 meter at the Stanford Invitational to earn the qualifying spot and went on to claim the title at the Southern Conference Championships last month. She would also win the 10K and set a SoCon record with a time of 34.35.06, surpassing the mark of 35:06 set by former UTC runner Lanni Marchant (London, Ontario) in 2007. The pair of titles earned her the SoCon Female Freshman of the Year title.

The region championship will be hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., at Hodges Stadium.
