CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's and women's track and field teams will head to Winston-Salem, N.C., this weekend for the Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The event begins Saturday, February 23 and run through Sunday February 24 at the brand new JDL Fast Track facility. This will mark the 78th championships for the men and the 26th for the women.

Senior Nathan Wanuch (Mississauga, Ontario) will lead the Mocs onto the track in the men's 3000 and 5000 meter runs. He ran a PR of 15:08.62 at last year's championships placing 12th and will look to improve his top times in both events.

"He had a great fall," UTC Head Coach Bill Gautier said. "He really stepped up and is an inspiration to the younger runners."

Freshman Trevor Janssen (Jordan Station, Ontario) will run the men's 800m along with classmate Marquis Carter (Memphis, Tenn.) who has had to deal with health related issues for much of the season. Janssen is ranked 10th in the SoCon standings after posting a time of 1:55.94 at Kentucky's Rod McCravy Memorial in January. Carter ran the same event in a time of 1:56.69, ranking 14th in the league standings.

"Trevor was the cross country Freshman of the Year last season," Gautier said. "Him running this much shorter distance just shows his versatility."

Freshman Paul Stuart (Brentwood, Tenn.) will anchor the men's Distance Medley Relay and be joined on the teams by junior John Gilpin (Nashville, Tenn.) and sophomore Patrick O'Brien (Chattanooga, Tenn.).
