The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s tennis team is sending four individuals to the Gwinnett College Grizzly Open in Lawrenceville, Ga., this weekend. This will close out the Mocs fall schedule.
Sophomores Gino Delavalle (Rosario, Argentina), John Peacey (Emerald, Australia) and Luke Saunders (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and freshman Derrick Brown (Marietta, Ga.) will all compete in singles action. Peacey and Brown are teaming up for doubles play, as are Delavalle and Saunders.
The Mocs join student-athletes from 15 colleges and universities across the Southeast, including schools from NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and the NJCAA. The tournament begins on Friday, Oct. 18 at 6:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) and continues on Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 a.m. each day.
Singles matches are the best two-out-of-three sets, with a 10-point tiebreaker deciding third sets until the semifinal round, when the entire match is played out. Players are divided into A, B and C tiers in men’s singles. Brown and Saunders are competing in Flight A Singles, while Peacey and Delavalle are in Flight B.
