A freshman from Locust Grove, Ga., Loudermilk went 1-1 on the week and earned her second save of the season. She picked up the 3-2 win over College of Charleston in game one on Saturday after tossing seven innings and recording 10 strikeouts. Loudermilk came in relief in game two to complete three innings of work and notched six strikeouts in the 7-5 win over the Cougars. For the week, she tossed 15 innings with 21 strikeouts.
Loudermilk leads the league in strikeouts (278), wins (22) and is tied for first in appearances with 40. This is her third pitcher of the week honor this season.
Golden, a senior from Conyers, Ga., hit two game-winning home runs last week for the Cougars. Her first walk-off homer came in the 2-1 win over Charleston Southern on Wednesday. Golden capped off the regular season with a 2-run shot in the eighth inning to give Charleston an 8-6 victory over Chattanooga on Sunday. She was 8-for-19 with three runs scored and four RBI on the week. In the field, she was errorless with 35 chances, including two double plays.
Golden finished the regular season leading the league in seven categories, including batting average (.418), RBI (61) and home runs (16). This is her third player of the week selection this season.
Other top performers for Player of the Week include Chattanooga’s Alyssa Edwards, UNCG’s Mary Greenway and Western Carolina’s Stephanie Beatty.
