The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team continued its successful run at the Duckworth Fall Classic in Clemson, S.C., today. The Lady Mocs won seven of eight singles matches today and captured a doubles draw.
Freshman Kayla Jones (Memphis, Tenn.) and Katie Polk (Woodstock, Ga.) grabbed the Silver Doubles with an 8-3 win over USC Upstate's Kuerten and Rojas. It was Polk's second doubles title of the fall, also winning at the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic in September.
Chattanooga has five singles players in tomorrow's finals, led by junior Alexa Flynn. She is in the Flight 5 Silver finals against Wofford's Guinn Garcia. Flynn defeated USC Upstate's Constanze Kuerten in a three-set match in the quarterfinals (6-1, 4-6, 7-5).
Freshman Kelsey Coots (Huntsville, Ala.) posted a (6-0, 6-3) win over Mercer's Kealee Heffner to advance to the finals of the Red Flight. Sophomore Claire Mulyadi (Semarang, Inodnesia) defeated Lipscomb's Jenny Borck (6-3, 6-2) to move on to the finals of the Green Flight.
Jones is in the finals of the Yellow Flight after a (6-1, 6-4) win over Wofford's Mareli Snachez. She is going for her second singles draw of the fall after also winning at the Baras. Freshman Jovana Pecovski (Apitan, Serbia) rounds out the Lady Mocs in the finals tomorrow. She beat Emory's Catharine Harris (6-2, 7-5) in the semifinals.
