Chattanooga Hosted "Meet the Lady Mocs" Thursday

The Chattanooga Lady Mocs softball team hosted its annual "Meet the Lady Mocs" and media day event Thursday at its indoor hitting facility at Warner Park.

News cameras from each of the three major broadcast networks (WDEF, WRCB and WTVC) in Chattanooga and reporters from the Chattanooga Times Free Press covered Thursday's event. Writers and reports talked with student-athletes along with Head Coach Frank Reed.

"It was another great turnout this year," Reed said. "Getting interviewed about the upcoming season really makes you realize how opening day is just around the corner

MocsVision's cameras were also on hand last week. A three-part series covering outfielders, infielders and pitchers will begin appearing on GoMocs.com tomorrow, including video and a written report.

Later that evening, "Meet the Lady Mocs" drew one of the largest crowds of the event's history. Fans lined up for autographs, photos and a chance to watch the team go through practice. A handful of fans were picked from the crowd to attempt to lay down a bunt off sophomore ace Taylor Deason (Clarksville, Tenn.) and all fans were given the chance to interact with and meet the student-athletes.

The Lady Mocs open the season Friday as they participate in Dot Richardson's National Training Center Invitational in Clermont, Fla. Chattanooga takes on Fordham, Southern Illinois, Long Island and Virginia Tech during the first road trip of the season.
