University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis senior Jenna Nurik continued to load up on postseason honors today. The senior from Roswell, Ga., earned a spot on the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team, as selected by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Nurik was also named the ITA Regional Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award Winner earlier this week. She is Chattanooga’s first four-time All-Southern Conference performer in women’s tennis, having played No. 1 singles throughout her career.
She finished the 2013 season with a 22-10 singles record, including a 16-4 mark at No. 1 in spring dual action. UTC posted an 18-5 overall record, the most wins for the program since 1991. Nurik was also 19-8 in doubles and was ranked in the nation early in the season with teammate Kaylene Chadwell.
Nurik graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Psychology in the spring. She posted a 3.90 grade-point-average and was elected to UTC’s Alpha Society. She was also a three time ITA Scholar Athlete and twice named to the Academic All-SoCon team. She will likely earn both honors again when they are awarded for the 2013 season.
As a member of the At-Large team, Nurik competed against student-athletes throughout the district in Bowling, Crew, Fencing, Field Hockey, Golf, Gymnastics, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, Rifle, Skiing, Swimming, Tennis and Water Polo. She is now eligible for recognition for Academic All-America recognition.
