Mocs Fall 7-0 at No. 40 Elon

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 match at No. 40 Elon in the Southern Conference opener for both teams in Elon, N.C., this afternoon.  UTC was swept in all 10 matches, falling to 2-6 overall, while The Phoenix improved to 6-3. 

Sophomore Gino Delavalle was the lone bright spot for Chattanooga today.  He pushed Brian Kowalski to three sets at No. 3.  Delavalle took the first set 6-3, the only frame won by the Mocs today.  Kowalski came back with a 6-2 win in the second.  With the team score already decided, they played a super-tiebreaker that Kowalski won 10-5. 

Chattanooga stays on the road tomorrow for a 12:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) match at UNCG.  A link for live scoring is available on the men’s tennis schedule page on
