With an opportunity to claim its third straight Southern Conference regular-season championship, the Chattanooga softball team will host bitter rival Georgia Southern in a three-game series beginning Saturday. Entering the weekend the Lady Mocs (23-19/12-2 SoCon) need only two wins from claiming their 11th SoCon title, but will have to do it against the second place Eagles (22-19/11-7 SoCon).
Saturday’s doubleheader will be the first game in 10 days for UTC, who has not stepped on the diamond since splitting a doubleheader with UAB on Apr. 16.
Leading the Lady Mocs into the weekend will be Tiffany Baker with her team-leading .370 batting average. The sophomore also leads the team in home runs (10) and RBI (32). Fuzzard is currently second on the team with a .328 batting average and 28 RBI. She also leads the team with eight wins and 99 strikeouts.
