CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Heavy rains and the potential for thunderstorms in the Chattanooga area have forced the opening day of the 2009 Southern Conference Softball Tournament to be rained out.

The Lady Mocs will now play at 1 p.m. on Thursday against the winner of the Western Carolina-Elon matchup, which will be played at 9 a.m.

Wednesday’s cancellation will now force games to be played on two separate fields Thursday as opposed to playing all games at Frost Stadium.

If the Lady Mocs win their opening round game, then the team will return to the diamond later in the day at 7 p.m. If UTC were to lose, it would play at 5 p.m.

Live stats and streaming video, with play-by-play, for all contests at Frost Stadium will be available at GoMocs.com.
