STARKVILLE, Miss. --- After a stellar season at second base for the Chattanooga softball team, Tiffany Baker has been named to the All-South Region team Thursday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The sophomore currently leads the team in a myriad of offensive categories, including batting average (.368), home runs (12) and runs batted in (41) as the squad prepares for the program’s seventh trip to the NCAA regionals.

Baker helped lead the Lady Mocs to a 30-22 record and a 15-5 mark in conference play as UTC claimed the Southern Conference’s regular season and tournament championships.

The East Ridge, Tenn. native is the ninth member of the UTC softball program to be named to the All-South Region Team. Current Chattanooga pitcher Brooke Loudermilk garnered the same honors in 2008.

Baker and the Lady Mocs will play Texas on Friday, May 15 in the opening game of the Tuscaloosa Regional in Tuscaloosa, Ala. UTC and the Longhorns will play at 4:30 p.m. EDT from the UA Softball Complex.

Live stats and video will be available at GoMocs.com.
