BRITISH AM MATCH PLAY | RICE PLANTERS | GREYSTONE

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---They say all good things come to an end. This ending came a little too early for recent Chattanooga Mocs graduate Chris Robb at the 119th British Amateur at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. Robb lost to a fellow Scottish amateur 3&1.

His birdie on the par five second gave him an early 1up lead. A bogey on four squared the match, but a par on six put the former Moc back up by a hole.

Back-to-back bogeys on seven and eight turned over the lead to his fellow countryman. It swelled to 3down when a birdie on 15 looked to provide a spark for Robb. But it was not meant to be as his opponent tallied birdie on 17 to claim the 3&1 triumph.

He is not only on the course this week. Rising sophomore Zac Stolz has a great day at the 42nd Rice Planters Amateur at Snee Farm Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. He fired a 4-under par 68 in his third round and is tied for ninth with 18 holes to play.

Stolz turned in six birdies on the day and has 11 in his last 28 holes. He is 4-under for the tourney, eight strokes behind the leader Rigel Fernandes, a rising sophomore at USF.

Stuart Thomas and Wes Gosselin made the cut to tee it up this weekend in Birmingham, Ala., at the Greystone Invitational. After 36 holes, Thomas is tied for 36th at 3-over par, 147, while Gosselin is tied for 52nd at 6-over. He and Thomas each shot 73 (+1) today. Kory Webb and Andrew Weathers missed the cut.
