CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---New beginnings. That’s a decent theme for the 2014-15 men’s golf season for the Chattanooga Mocs. It all starts Friday, September 5, at the prestigious Carpet Capital Collegiate at the Farm in Rocky Face, Ga. Known as “the Masters of College Golf”, the Carpet Capital is one of the premier events in collegiate golf.

“It is a special event,” coach Mark Guhne smiled and stated. “The Farm is an amazing venue, and this truly is one of the elite events in college golf. We have our work cut out for us, but I believe in the potential this team has for this season.

“The key is turning potential into performance.”

Three starters return from a year ago in senior Liam Johnston and sophomores Ewan Scott and Wes Gosselin. Sophomore Zac Stolz and redshirt freshman Andrew Weathers join the trio as a young squad makes the short trip south to the Farm.

“I’m really proud of Andrew winning our qualifying event,” Guhne added. “Zac had a great summer, and I think you’ll see Ewan and Wes take big steps forward after solid first seasons. Liam played at an elite level last fall. I know he has the ability to carry that on for the full season. It will be good to get this first test under our belts and see where we stand.”

The three-day, 54-hole event begins on Friday and ends Sunday. Admission is free all three days with the Farm located about 30 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. Click the live scoring link above to access tee times and scores when they are available.
