Chattanooga Menís Golf Finishes Year in Top 15 Nationally

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s golf team finished 2007-08 ranked as high No. 12, which is the highest final ranking achieved in the team’s history.

 

“It was a great year,” said Head Coach Mark Guhne.  “From top to bottom, we improved as a team and that’s all you can ask for as a coach.  We return our starting five and will add some exciting newcomers next year. 

 

“I’m ready to start (2008-09) now.”

 

The record-setting Mocs ranked No. 12 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings Index, while coming in at No. 14 in Golfstat and the Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches Poll.  With five wins on the season, UTC led the nation in average drop score (76.06) and finished third in adjusted scoring average (72.06).

 

Individually, Jonathan Hodge completed his season at No. 20 in the Golfstat Cup and No. 26 in Golfweek.  Derek Rende came in at No. 74 in both rankings, while Freddie Qvicker is No. 88 in Golfweek and 101st on Golfstat.
