Mocs Now Tied for Ninth Heading into Final Round at Hootie at Bulls Bay
Senior Derek Rende's 68 helped the Mocs tie their season-low round of 277.

AWENDAW, S.C. --- It was a day for scoring at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's golf team did its part tying its low round of the season with a seven-under par 277 Monday afternoon.  The Mocs moved into a tie for ninth after 36 holes with North Carolina State as 10 of the field's 15 teams scored under par for the day.

Chattanooga's 277 included all five student-athletes shooting par or better led by freshman Steven Fox with a 67 (-4), which ties his career best round.  Derek Rende (68) joined Fox under par (71) for the round, while Stephan Jaeger, Fredrik Qvicker and J.T. Clendenin ended at even (71).

The Mocs shot the fourth lowest round on the day as playing partner Augusta State, ranked as high as No. 3 nationally, shot 270 (-14) followed by South Carolina (272) and Virginia (274).

LSU leads the event at 566 (-2).  No. 19 South Carolina is in second at 568 (E), while No. 18 Virginia is in third at 569.  Just 11 shots separate the top 10 teams in the field.

Fox's 67 moved him up to tied for 10th individually at one-under par 141.  N.C. State's Matt Hill continues as the leader at 135 (-7) with Patrick Rada (USC) and Sang Yi (LSU) tied in second at 137 (-5).

Jaeger and Rende are tied for 28th at 145 (+3).  Qvicker is now tied for 34th at 146 (+4), while Clendenin moved into a tie for 66th at 155.

Chattanooga starts on No. 1 tomorrow with Clendenin leading the way at 8 a.m.  The Mocs are paired with Clemson and Augusta State.

>The last time the Mocs had all five players shoot par or better in a round was the 2009 Administaff Augusta State Invitational third round carding a -4, 282...UTC actually turned the trick in the first round as well shooting 273 (-15) as a team...It is the 3rd time the team has shot under 280 this season and the 7th par or better round of the season.

>Chattanooga tied its season high for birdies in a round (all five cards) with 22...set a new season high with 55 pars (54 - SunTrust Gator Invitational 2nd round)...Team scored par or better on 77 of 90 holes with just one score higher than a bogey.
