Former Mocs Take Headlines
Two-time Southern Conference player of the year and former All-American Jonathan Hodge tied for fifth at the Bentonville Open on the NGA Hooters Professional Tour. Hodge ended up three shots of the pace shooting 11-under par 273 with rounds of 68, 69, 66 and 70. He was one of just six golfers to shoot under par in every round.
Hodge's former teammate Mitch Brock tied for the championship of the Ira Templeton Chattanooga Open with a six-under par total of 134 at Creeks Bend Golf Club. Brock tied amateur Sam Bedwell shooting round of 68 and 66 in making up a four-shot deficit to Bedwell after the opening 18.
Fox Qualifies for Match Play then Plays Southeastern Amateur
Rising sophomore Steven Fox qualified for the Tennessee Match Play Championship by tying for the low round of 69 (-3) at the Legacy at Springfield on June 14. The TGA Match Play is slated for the Chattanooga Golf & Country Club, July 13-16.
Fox followed that with tying for 45th at the 81st Southeastern Amateur played at the Country Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ga., June 16-19. He shot rounds of 74, 72, 75 and 71 for an eight-over par 292.
Weilguni Playing Well in Austria
Benni Weilguni tied for 11th at the Vienna Championship at the Golf Club Wien in tough conditions in his native Austria. He carded a 301 over his 72 holes.
Jaeger World Ranking
Fresh off a solid performance at the British Amateur, rising junior Stephan Jaeger is tied for No. 108 in the R&A World Ranking. He is currently competing in a European mini-tour event in Berlin, Germany.
