CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga rising senior Stephan Jaeger (Munich, Germany) is getting to live his dream this week as an invited amateur to the BMW International Open June 23-26.  Jaeger is one of two amateurs, Marcel Schneider, entered in the field.

The event is played at Jaeger's home course, Golfclub München Eichenreid, in Munich.

"This is a dream come true," said Jaeger.  "I've followed this event my entire life and to be invited to play is an honor.  If I could choose just one event to compete in, this would be it."

Jaeger just completed his third stellar season at Chattanooga.  He is the two-time reigning Southern Conference Golfer of the Year and has earned PING All-East Region status all three years with the Mocs.

He wound up No. 42 in the Golfstat Cup, No. 60 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Perfomance Index and No 68 in Golfstat's final rankings.  Jaeger finished the season at one-under par, just the second UTC golfer to play par or better for the season (Jonathan Hodge - 2008).

"Jaeger prepares like no one I've ever been around" said Chattanooga head coach Mark Guhne.  "To get the chance to play an event he has followed his entire life at his home course...it's just a great opportunity for him."

Joining Jaeger in Munich are some of the top names in golf, present and past.  World No. 3 Martin Kaymer is scheduled to be there along with No. 11 Dustin Johnson, No. 12 Paul Casey, No. 22 Francesco Molinari, No. 26 Retief Goosen, No. 28 Miguel Angel Jimenez, Colin Montgomerie, Jose Maria Olazabal and German great Bernhard Langer.

It's the 23rd year of the tournament dating back to 1989.  Past winners include Kaymer (2008), Henrik Stenson (2006), Jimenez (2004), Lee Westwood (2003), John Daly (2001), Montgomerie (1999), Paul Azinger (1990 & 1992), Sandy Lyle (1991) and David Feherty (1989 - inaugural event).
