Head Coach John Shulman
On how his team is improving
"Yeah I mean the first thing I told them in the locker room is very simple. You know you've gotten better when you go to an SEC venue and play an undefeated SEC team and you felt like you gave it away, and that's how I feel. I mean we made enough silly mental mistakes and blunders to win the basketball game. I tried to explain to them that this is a good thing; it's a good thing that we just felt like we gave one away. You know we're down two with eleven to play, and we can't pick up in transition. At times we look like we're getting there, and at times we play like a bunch of inexperienced freshmen like we are. There's no doubt that there are some areas that we did get better in and there's no doubt there are some areas that we're really hurting ourselves."
On the team's shooting performance
"You know I've got the utmost confidence in Farad Cobb shooting that ball, and he got unbelievable looks at the basket, Gee got really good looks inside the three point line that didn't go, we all got good looks inside the three point line. I liked our offensive concept tonight. I thought we had better flow. It's really our second game that we've doing this, so I think we'll get better at it and better at it and better at it, but we've got to have more production from certain guys for us to be successful, and that's not a secret."
On the LSU athletes and their ability to rebound
"We knew it was going to be difficult on the glass, that's what they do, that's who they are. They were a positive ten on the glass and they're very, very athletic, you know they've got SEC athletes. I thought the big fella made a difference in the game. He's 7'3" and he changes shots out there. He's not an SEC athlete, but to be in the band two years ago, and to be playing on this level is pretty good to tell you the truth."
Z. Mason, forward, junior
Thoughts on the game
"I think we played well against a good SEC opponent who is undefeated. It is bitter-sweet for me. I think I played a pretty good game, but it hurts because we had a chance to beat a top team and fell short."
Thoughts on Chattanooga's run in the second half
"It shows that we have fight. That's something we need in a young basketball team. We've had a few slow starts, but if we continue to fight and take away a few small plays against us, we'll be fine."
Thoughts on his inside-out play
"It felt good to finally get my outside shot going, but I wanted to make sure I got some buckets on the inside, too. I really wanted to help get us going after the slow start."
On being aggressive and attacking the basket
"We really did a good job of attacking the basket today. Ronrico White got us going today, and that's really something we needed from him. If we continue to get to the basket and play inside-out, we'll be fine. We just have to take away the small plays because, at one time, it was a 3-point game, but we made a couple of simple mistakes that hurt us. We just have to take away those plays."
Ronrico White, guard, sophomore
Thoughts on the game
"Both teams went on some really good runs tonight. They went on some good runs on us, but Coach Shulman is a fighter, and we won't let us give up. As long as we keep playing, we'll be fine."
Thoughts on Chattanooga's offense
"We're a pretty dangerous team when we have shots falling, but we can't rely just on that. We didn't do a good job of rebounding tonight. They won the rebounding battle and the offensive boards hurt us. They would get an offensive rebound and shut us down when we tried to go on a run. We have to do a better job of boxing out."
Thoughts on controlling the basketball
"We did a pretty good job of taking care of the basketball. We only had this one period of time where we had some trouble with turnovers. For us to come in here and try to beat a good SEC team, we can't let that happen."
