Fox Fires a 70 at Farmers Insurance Open

LA JOLLA, Calif. --- Chattanooga Mocs senior Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.) got off to a solid start in his PGA Tour debut with a two-under par 70. He is tied for 57th playing the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

Fox played the North Course today carding five birdies, 10 pars and three bogeys. After a bogey on the par four 15th dropped him back to even par, the reigning U.S. Amateur Champ finished birdie-par-birdie for his 70.

He is in pretty heady company at minus two. Former major winners Angel Cabrera (U.S. Open & Masters), Keegan Bradley (PGA) and Y.E. Yang (PGA) also shot 70. Bradley also traversed the north trace, while Cabrera and Yang played the well-known South Course.

Fox tees off at 2 p.m., Eastern Time on Friday. He is playing with former Florida All-American Billy Horschel (66) and Donald Constable (75). The trio opens on No. 10 on the South Course.
