MOCS MEN’S GOLF NOTEBOOK
Querencia Cabo Collegiate | March 2-4, 2014
FINISHED WHERE WE STARTED
Chattanooga was the ninth-highest ranked team entered in the event which is exactly where it finished. The Mocs ended up one stroke clear of defending champ Ole Miss.
SECOND ROUND TIES FOR FIFTH
The 289 on the Mocs’ second 18 ties for the fifth-best team round of the season. It was a consistent effort with counting scores of 71 (Ewan Scott), 72 (Davis Bunn) and 73 (Liam Johnston & Chris Robb).
PAR 5 SCORING
Chattanooga entered the event at -64 for the year on par 5’s. It also left at -64 shooting a season-low E on the three Cabo long holes. The previous low was 0-8 at the Carpet Capital and Bridgestone Golf Collegiates.
The Mocs have now played six straight rounds without an eagle. Scott had the last one in the final 18 at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in October.
Chattanooga had a season-low 29 birdies this week. That’s three less than the previous low of 32 at the Brickyard Collegiate. Johnston led the way with 10. That’s his third event in five total with 10 or more. Scott tied his season-high with four birdies for the final 18. It’s the fifth time he has recorded four.
The Mocs did have a season high, but not in a category they’d like. The 14 others (scores of double bogey or higher) plagued scoring and tied their total at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. The seven on the first 18 is a season high as well.
