TEAM

- The Chattanooga Mocs won their 23rd-straight game with a 66-57 victory over Georgia Southern  this afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament.  UTC improves to 27-3 overall while the Eagles end their season with a 10-21 mark.

- Head coach Jim Foster won his 810th game today…11th women’s coach in the NCAA to reach that mark.  His 36-year mark stands at 810-310.  The 2013 Hall of Fame inductee is the only coach in NCAA Division I history - men or women - to lead three different teams to at least 200 wins (St. Joseph’s: 248, Vanderbilt: 256, Ohio State: 279). This marked his 27th season with 20 or more wins, tied for seventh most in Division I.

- UTC’s 23-straight wins is the fourth-longest active run in the nation…last loss was at Hawai’i (60-55) on Nov. 30.

- Chattanooga led 9-6 before going on a 13-0 run to take control of the first half.  Georgia Southern went scoreless for over 11 minutes in the first period.  Danielle Spencer scored a layup at the 15:58 mark and the Eagles did not score again until a pair of Sierra Kirkland FTs with 4:43 left in the first.  That did spark a 12-7 run by Georgia Southern to cut the halftime deficit to 29-18.

- Fourth time this season the Mocs held opponent to under 20 points in the first half.

- Georgia Southern cut UTC’s lead to six, 50-44 with 9:14 left in the game when Angle McGowan hit a layup.  On the ensuing Chattanooga possession, Tatianna Jackson banked in a three-pointer as the shot clock expired to push the lead back to nine.

- UTC blocked nine shots in the game, tying for second most this season.

- All 11 Mocs that played hit at least one field goal and grabbed at least one rebound…nine of the 11 had at least one assists.
