MOCS MEN’S GOLF NOTEBOOK
Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate | March 10-11, 2014
The final round 284 is our second best 18-hole total of 2013-14 by one stroke over the 285 at the Brickyard Collegiate, also a final round effort. The second round 273 (-15) at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate is the best so far.
The final round 284 was the third-best final 18 at the event behind No. 7 Virginia (279) and Clemson (283). It was the fourth best of the 54 turned in for the 18-team field.
TOP 5 FOR ROBB
Chris Robb’s tie for fifth is his fourth career top five finish and first of 2013-14. It’s his third top 10 of the season, eighth career. His 54-hole tally of 214 is his best score since shooting 207 (-9) to win the 2012 Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in October of last season.
SPRING TIME IS THE RIGHT TIME
Davis Bunn certainly blooms in the spring. He posted is second top 20 in three events since the calendar turned to 2014. Over the last two falls, Bunn’s scoring average was 75.52. The spring numbers through today: 73.17.
ROUNDS IN THE 60’S
Head Coach Mark Guhne has been looking for a few low rounds this spring. The team has been pretty good, it’s just that low round or two you need to be as successful as the Mocs are accustomed to being. The 68 (Robb) and 69 (Ewan Scott) in the final 18 were the first scores under 70 since Liam Johnston in the final round of the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in October.
Robb’s 68 is the fifth-best round by a Moc in 2013-14. It’s his 11th career 18 in the 60’s. Scott’s 69 is his second-best card of the season and eighth par or better one.
