UTC does not have a senior on the roster, but this will be the final home match for junior Sam Parfitt. The Norwich, England, native has one semester remaining to complete his degree in History. A four-year member of the team, Parfitt redshirted in 2010-11 and has gone 1-2 as a doubles player this season. Parfitt has been on the Dean's List throughout his career and was an Academic All-SoCon selection in 2010.
Parfitt is going out on a high note as the Mocs are enjoying their best season since 2007. UTC is currently 13-7 overall and 4-5 in the Southern Conference race.
The Bulldogs are second in the SoCon with an 8-1 record and 14-4 overall. Chattanooga has split the last two meetings with Samford, falling 6-1 last season and posting a 4-3 win in 2010.
Junior Manuel Barroetavena (Buenos Aires, Argentina) is leading the way with a 19-7 singles record. He is the reigning SoCon Player of the Month and has an 8-1 total in league singles matches.
Junior Roberto Vieira (Bedfordview, South Africa) is a two-time All-SoCon performer who is getting back on track after battling a nagging foot injury over the last month. He has won three-straight at No. 1 and is currently 14-10 overall and 10-6 in the spring.
Junior Jackson Tresnan (Apopka, Fla.) has a 13-7 singles record, all in spring action. He had a nine-match winning streak earlier in the year that won him SoCon Player of the Month honors for February. He is 9-4 at the No. 5 position.
Freshman Pavels Grigorjevs (Riga, Latvia) is 7-3 in his last 10 matches and has a 5-3 record against conference opponents. He is 7-4 at No. 6.
Junior Chris Smith (Johnson City, Tenn.) is 12-14 overall but 8-3 at his usual spot at No. 2. Junior Ankit Chopra (Chandigrah, India) is 13-15 overall and 6-6 at No. 3.
The doubles lineup changes from week to week, depending on the matchups. Parfitt and junior Stephen Crofford (Franklin, Tenn.) have both seen action in the doubles lineup during the spring.
