A native of Buenos Aries, Argentina, Barroetavena started with four consecutive wins at the No. 3 singles position. He posted straight-set wins over Paul Schuette of Georgia Tech and Artem Tarasov of Tennessee Tech before pulling out a three-set victory (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) over Belmont's Fernando Mussolini.
Barroetavena moved up to the top singles spot against North Alabama and topped UNA's Matt Feury, 6-0, 6-3. The senior picked up two wins at No. 2 singles over the weekend with victories over Austin Peay's Jasmin Ademovic (6-4, 5-7, 6-4) and Murray State's Tyler Jeffers (6-1, 6-2).
The Steve Baras Memorial Scholarship recipient has either clinched the match point for the Mocs, or been the first to finish a singles match in each of UTC's seven matches.
Barroetavana has paired with fellow senior Jackson Tresnan (Apopka, Fla.) in doubles play. The duo has opened the year 4-1, including a 3-0 mark at No. 2 doubles.
