The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s tennis team hosts Murray State on Thursday, March 13, in a rescheduled match from earlier in the season. First serve against the Racers is set for 1:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) on the UTC Tennis Courts.
The Mocs were originally scheduled to host Murray State on Feb. 9 at the Hixson Racquet Club, but weather forced a change in travel plans. Thursday’s non-conference match includes live scoring, with a link available on the men’s tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
Chattanooga has won two in a row and sits at 4-7 overall. The Mocs hold a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series with the Racers. UTC has won each of the last two meetings, and is 4-0 all-time in Chattanooga. Last season, the Mocs scored a 7-0 win at home on March 20.
Sophomore Luke Saunders has won three-straight for the Mocs at No. 3, while junior Pavels Grigorjevs is 1-1 since taking over the top spot. Senior Jorge Varon is 2-0 at No. 2 and sophomore Gino Delavalle is 5-4 at No. 4. UTC lost the doubles point in each of its last two wins, but came back to take the match in singles.
Murray State is 1-4 overall, with their lone victory against Bethel (5-2) on Feb. 18. Weather has been tough on their schedule, as they have only played two matches since the beginning of February. Their four losses have been against tough competition, including No. 48 Louisville (0-7), No. 6 Tennessee (0-7), No. 18 Memphis (0-7) and Middle Tennessee (0-6).
