The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s tennis team is going for its fourth win in a row this weekend when it hosts Davidson. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) on the UTC Tennis Courts on Sunday, March 23. A link for live scoring is available on the men’s tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
The Mocs are 5-7 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference action. UTC is riding a three-match winning streak that includes wins over Murray State (6-0), Alabama State (6-1) and The Citadel (5-2). The two league defeats were a pair of 7-0 shutouts at UNCG and Elon.
Sophomore Luke Saunders is leading the surge with a four-match winning streak of his own at No. 3. Fellow sophomore John Peacey has settled in to the No. 5 position where he is 5-1. Senior Jorge Varon is 3-0 since dropping back to No. 2.
Davidson is 3-10 overall and 0-2 in SoCon play. The Wildcats have two matches this week before visiting Chattanooga on Sunday. They host Wofford on Thursday and visit Samford on Saturday. Their league matches included a 4-3 loss at Georgia Southern and a 6-1 loss at No. 46 Elon.
The Mocs are 18-8 all-time against Davidson, but only have two wins in the last seven meetings. Chattanooga dropped a 5-2 decision to the Wildcats in last year’s dual.
