The Southern Conference recently announced its men’s and women’s tennis championships will return to Chattanooga’s Champions Club in April 2016. This will be the third time the Mocs have hosted the event since 2011.
The SoCon Tournament just concluded a successful 2014 stay in the Scenic City. Elon swept both the men’s and women’s titles at the Champions Club in April.
“We obviously have a great venue to host these Championships as we have experience in years past,” state UTC men’s tennis coach Carlos Garcia. “I am looking forward to another great tournament with exciting new teams involved like Mercer and ETSU.”
UTC also hosted the SoCon Championships in 2011. The College of Charleston won the women’s trophy that year, while Samford took home the men’s crown.
“We are extremely excited to be hosting the SoCon Tournament again,” stated UTC women’s coach Jeff Clark. “The Champions Club is one of the top public venues in the Southeast, if not the nation. Laura Herron does a great job organizing it and all of the officials from the conference, the student-athletes and the referees have praised the tournament each year we have hosted.”
The league also announced Furman will host the SoCon Tournament in 2015.
