University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s tennis student-athletes Pavels Grigorjevs and Gino Delavalle were both recently honored for their work in the classroom by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Both earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2013-14 season.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria:
1.) be a varsity letter winner,
2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and
3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
Grigorjevs will be a senior for the Mocs in 2014-15 and is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He has a 3.38 cumulative grade-point-average and was 6-6 at No. 1 singles in the spring.
Delavalle is a rising junior who is majoring in Economics. He was one of a school record 37 Mocs to post a 4.0 g.p.a. in the 2014 spring semester. He was 7-7 at No. 4 singles in the spring.
Head Coach Carlos Garcia welcomes back seven of eight letter winners from last year’s team. Coach Garcia is entering his 14th season with the Mocs.
