Two Mocs Earn ITA Scholar-Athlete Recognition

Two University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s tennis student-athletes earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Scholar-Athlete Award, the organization recently announced.  Seniors William Disterdick and Jackson Tresnan both earned the prestigious academic honor for the third time in their careers.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a student-athlete must meet the following criteria:
1.) be a varsity letter winner,
2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and
3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters

Tresnan has earned three-straight ITA Scholar Athlete Awards.  The Apopka, Fla., native went 15-13 in singles play in 2012-13.  He also graduated with a degree in Communications in May.  He is a three-time Academic All-SoCon honoree and led the Mocs to a 12-9 overall record last season.  He had a very strong senior season in doubles play, finishing 9-1 in SoCon matches and 16-7 overall.

Disterdick is a four-year letter winner from Hixson, Tenn.  He posted a 4-4 singles record last season.  He graduated Cum Laude in May with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

The Mocs have had at least one ITA Scholar Athlete each year since 2009.  The men’s tennis program set a new team record with a 3.46 g.p.a. in the fall semester. All nine members of the team made the AD Honor Roll in the fall.
