The Lady Mocs welcome Georgia Southern to the UTC Tennis Complex Saturday at 10 a.m. and face the College of Charleston Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Champion’s Club.
The Mocs take on Davidson at 2 p.m. Saturday and host the College of Charleston at 1 p.m. Sunday. Both matches will be played at the UTC Tennis Complex.
The women’s team, 3-7, will try to get back on the winning track after a difficult non-conference stretch of matches against Middle Tennessee, Birmingham-Southern and UAB. Three of UTC’s losses have been decided by one point.
Senior Anastasia Zhukova, ranked 31st nationally, brings an 8-1 singles mark into Saturday’s match and will play at her customary No. 1 position. Lindsey Ballard has a respectable 7-3 record at No. 2 singles thus far.
Georgia Southern is 3-5 overall and has yet to play a SoCon team. The College of Charleston is 4-1 pending its SoCon opener at Western Carolina Friday.
The Mocs, 10-2 and 1-0 SoCon, are in the midst of an eight-match winning streak, the program’s longest in at least 10 years. UTC’s last loss came nearly one month ago, a 4-1 loss on Jan. 31 to No. 43 Middle Tennessee.
Newcomer Peter Sauska is the only player to win each of his matches during the current winning streak. Razvan Axente returned to the lineup in triumphant fashion last week after missing a match with a sore shoulder. Playing at No. 4, he posted wins over UNCG and Birmingham-Southern.
Davidson brings a 3-5 record into Saturday’s match and hosted James Madison late Friday. The College of Charleston is 2-0 and played at Georgia Southern Friday in its SoCon opener.
