CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The Citadel men’s tennis team claimed a 4-3 Southern Conference victory Wednesday over Chattanooga by winning the doubles point and three of six singles matches.

 

The Bulldogs, who improved to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the league, swept the three doubles matches to pick up a 1-0 lead.

 

The Citadel produced victories at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 singles to send the Mocs back home with a 4-3 loss.

 

The Mocs, 10-3 and 1-2, were coming off a big SoCon win over the College of Charleston two days earlier.  Chattanooga’s team points came from singles wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles.

 

Senior Badr Bouabdellah moved down to No. 2 singles and defeated Yufo Sutantio, 6-3, 6-0.  Junior Peter Sauska registered a 7-5, 6-4 win over James Eason at No. 3, and No. 6 singles player Robert Diamond, a freshman, was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Frederic Petrilli.

 

Chattanooga travels to Knoxville, Tenn., Saturday to take on Tennessee of the Southeastern Conference.
