The men’s tennis team will try to win its second straight Southern Conference match Sunday, facing Georgia Southern on the Eagles’ Statesboro, Ga., campus.
The Mocs, 11-8 and 2-6 against SoCon competition, are coming off an exciting 4-3 home victory over Wofford this past Tuesday. In the win over the Terriers, the Mocs won the doubles point and earned victories at the top three singles spots to edge Wofford by one point.
Producing singles wins for Chattanooga were junior Peter Sauska at No. 1 singles, and seniors Badr Bouabdellah and Razvan Axente at No. 2 and 3 respectively.
Others expected to be in the lineup for Head Coach Carlos Garcia are junior Pavel Vostrikov and freshmen Robert Diamond, Hasan Hamadeh and Rick van de Bovenkamp.
Georgia Southern carries an 8-9 overall mark and a 4-3 league record into Friday’s match at The Citadel. The Eagles have claimed two of their last three matches with wins over Appalachian State and UNC Greensboro.
The Mocs blanked Georgia Southern 7-0 last year at home on April 9.
