Chattanooga is riding a four-match winning streak for the first time in nearly three years. UTC has a chance to extend its recent success as this week kicks off six-straight home matches for the Mocs.
Chattanooga is 5-6 on the year and 1-0 in Southern Conference matches. The five wins equal last year's total and one more this week will secure the Mocs' best record since going 12-10 in 2008.
Sophomore Jackson Tresnan (Apopka, Fla.) has been on fire over the last month. He has won seven straight matches, playing the No. 4 position. He leads the team with a 10-7 mark in singles play and is 7-0 at No. 4.
Freshman Trent Cobb (Melbourne, Australia) is also coming on strong. He is second on the team with eight singles wins and is 4-2 at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Sophomore Roberto Vieira (Bedfordview, South Africa) has won three in a row to even his record at 7-7, including a 3-3 mark at No. 1.
The rest of the Mocs starters all have six singles wins each. Senior Rick van de Bovenkamp (Oud-Beyerland, The Netherlands) is 6-6 overall while sophomores Chris Smith (Johnson City, Tenn.) and William Disterdick (Hixson, Tenn.) are both 6-9.
The Mocs are guided by head coach Carlos Garcia who is in his 10th season at UTC. He scored his 100th career victory as the men's coach at UTC last week.
Murray State is 1-5 on the year with their lone win coming against Western Kentucky (5-2) on Feb. 13. UNC Greensboro is 6-3 on the year and will travel to Samford on Thursday before its visit to UTC. The Spartans are in a three-way tie with the Mocs and Georgia Southern atop the SoCon standings with a 1-0 record in league action.
