Chattanooga has won six of its last eight matches and has a 7-8 overall record. UTC is also 2-2 in Southern Conference action, good for fifth in the league. The Mocs' seven wins equal their win total from the last two seasons combined (2-16 in 2009 and 5-15 in 2010). It is the most wins in a season since going 12-10 in 2008.
Sophomore Jackson Tresnan (Apopka, Fla.) leads the team with a 12-9 mark in singles play. He was 8-1 at No. 4 but has moved up to No. 3 over the last two weeks where he is 2-2. Ten of his 12 wins have come during the spring dual season.
Sophomore Roberto Vieira (Bedfordview, South Africa) has won six of his last seven to improve his record to 10-9, including a 7-5 mark at No. 1. Senior Rick van de Bovenkamp (Oud-Beyerland, The Netherlands) has a career-high eight wins in his final spring at UTC. He is 8-8 overall and 2-0 in the No. 4 slot.
The Mocs are guided by head coach Carlos Garcia who is in his 10th season at UTC. He scored his 100th career victory as the men's coach at UTC earlier in the year. He is currently 103-120 in his tenure with the Mocs.
The Hatters enter the match with a 13-7 overall record and a two-match winning streak. They defeated Lipscomb 4-3 on March 17 and Belmont 5-2 on March 19.
Appalachian State is currently 7-4 overall and 1-1 in SoCon matches. They have won five of their last six and are currently tied for sixth in the league race.
