Today's men's tennis match against Lee University has been postponed due to cold temperatures in Chattanooga today. No makeup date has been set, but the Mocs are still scheduled to host the College of Charleston on Saturday.
Chattanooga hosts the Cougars on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., also on the UTC Tennis Courts. A link for live scoring is available on the men's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
Chattanooga is trying to snap a six-match skid to the Cougars. UTC has not defeated the College of Charleston since a 4-3 road win on March 10, 2008. The Cougars are 2-3 overall with wins over Winthrop (5-2) and Presbyterian (4-3). They have losses to Virginia Tech (1-6), Charlotte (3-4) and Georgia State (3-4).
The Mocs are 5-3 overall after Sunday's 7-0 loss at No. 22 North Carolina. Senior Manuel Barroetavena (Buenos Aires, Argentina) is currently 7-1 in spring action and has seen time in each of the top three singles slots. He also has a 4-2 record in doubles, teaming with fellow senior Jackson Tresnan (Apopka, Fla.). Tresnan is 6-1 in spring singles, playing the No. 4-6 positions.
Head coach Carlos Garcia is in his 12th season at UTC, posting a 123-140 overall record. UTC has increased its win total in each of the last three seasons. The 14-9 mark in 2012 was the best record for the program since 2007.
The Mocs also set a program record with a 3.46 team grade-point-average in the fall. All nine members of the team made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll with a 3.0+ semester g.p.a., while seven made the Dean's List.
