The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s tennis team has a busy week of competition, beginning with a Wednesday match at Samford. UTC then returns home for a pair of contests against Appalachian State and The Citadel on the weekend.
The Mocs are 8-7 overall and 3-3 in Southern Conference action. UTC is currently in seventh place in the league race with four matches left on the schedule.
Samford is second in the league standings with a 4-1 SoCon mark, 9-7 overall. The Mocs have lost two-straight to the Bulldogs and are 11-12 in the all-time series. Samford won last year’s meeting 5-2 in Chattanooga. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at the Samford Tennis Center in Birmingham, Ala.

Appalachian State brings a 4-11 overall record and 2-4 mark in league play. Chattanooga is looking to snap a six-match slide to ASU, but still holds a 16-11 lead in the all-time series. The Mocs last win over App. State was a 4-1 victory on April 20, 2007, in the SoCon Tournament in Charleston, S.C. The Mountaineers won last year’s meeting 5-2 in Boone, N.C.
Senior Day is set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, against The Citadel. The Mocs will recognize seven seniors before the match, including Manuel Barroetavena, Ankit Chopra, Stephen Crofford, William Disterdick, Chris Smith, Jackson Tresnan and Roberto Vieira.
The Bulldogs are looking for their first win in seven league matches and are 7-10 overall. The Mocs have won three straight in the senior and hold a 15-4 overall lead, including last year’s 4-3 win in Charleston, S.C.
