Four members of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s tennis team are heading to Knoxville, Tenn., this weekend for the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional. Action takes place at the Goodfriend Tennis Center and the Knoxville Racquet Club from Friday, Oct. 11 through Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Senior Jorge Varon (Valencia, Venezuela), junior Pavels Grigorjevs (Riga, Latvia) and sophomores Luke Saunders (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and John Peacey (Emerald, Australia) are all competing this weekend.
Varon opens singles play against Eastern Kentucky's Alex Alvaro in the Round of 128, while Peacey faces Dayton's Bernardo Sanson. Grigorjevs has a first round bye and will face either Murray State's Max McLean or David O'Hare of Memphis. Saunders goes against EKU’s Florian Graskamp in the first round.
Varon and Grigorjevs team up in doubles play and face Adam Krull and Micahel Moe from Xavier in the first round. Saunders and Peacey open with a match against Dayton’s Andy Druffel and Drew Hanley.
