Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga at Georgia Southern
Hanner Fieldhouse – Statesboro, Ga.
Monday – Feb. 3, 2014
Head Coach Jim Foster
On the play in the opening half:
“We didn’t play very hard and we played very individualistic. We only had one assist in the first half and that is not indicative of us when we are good. Much better job in the second half.”
On the play of Georgia Southern:
“They have an interesting team. They are .500 in the league. They can cause problems. They have three guards that can shoot. They have three than can shoot it 40% or better from the three-point line. And they have two big, strong post players that can do some damage. We have to be a little bit more hard-nosed. Ashlen has to be a little bit smarter.
“Without Faith, we are down to two centers and one of those is a freshman. She has a tendency to get a bad foul in the first half. Just a silly foul. Its inevitable there is going to be another foul because there is some kind of contact. It might not be a bad foul, it might be a legit foul, but she has to eliminate the bad fouls. Little things like that as you progress through the season we need to do. We sort of have the tendency that we are not as good the second game through. I address that in the locker room and that has to change too.”
On the play of Taylor Hall tonight:
“She did a good job. She was on the boards and she knocked down her foul shots. She took advantage of some opportunities when we needed a big basket.”
Senior Taylor Hall
On her overall play tonight:
“I still missed a lot of shots, but they fouled me late in the game, so they gave me more opportunities.”
On scoring off an offensive rebound in the second half:
“That is something we can control…crashing the boards offensively. And doing our job defensively. We were not hitting shots throughout the game, but was able to get one. I missed the first one, but I was able to grab it again and get fouled.”
On battling for rebounds:
“People ask me sometimes, what are you thinking or what are you trying to do? I have no answer for that. I just go with it and try to find a way to the basket.
On scoring 1,000 career points:
“My teammates told me after the game. I had no idea.”
