CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women’s tennis team will stay close to home over the Easter weekend playing host to Southern Conference foes Western Carolina and UNC Greensboro while the men will travel to Boone, N.C. to take on Appalachian State.

The Lady Mocs are 5-12 overall and 1-6 in Southern Conference action. The freshmen laden team is led by Jennemieke van der Veek with an 8-9 overall and Emily Hangstefer’s 3-5 league mark. In doubles play, Hangstefer, along with sophomore Grace Robinette, has a 2-3 record in SoCon play with a 2-2 overall mark at the No. 2 position. Robinette returned to action late this season and is continuing to recover from an injury to her right arm.

The Lady Mocs defeated the Catamounts last season in Cullowhee, N.C., by a 5-2 margin but fell 6-1 to the Spartans in Greensboro.

The Mocs will travel to the North Carolina mountains for a Saturday afternoon matchup in Boone, N.C. Despite the team struggling this season with a 1-15 overall mark and a 0-8 league record, the Mocs have received strong competition from its top two players, seniors Peter Sauska and Pavel Vostrikov.

The pair hold identical 7-9 overall marks with Sauska 4-4 in league play. Vostrikov is 3-5 against SoCon opponents. As a pair, the duo has an 8-5 record and is 6-2 against the conference.

The women will host Western Carolina at 1 p.m. Friday at the UTC Tennis Courts located near the McKenzie Arena. Saturday’s match against UNC Greensboro is also slated for a 1 p.m. start. The men’s match against Appalachian State is set to begin at 2 p.m. in Boone.
