University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis freshman Kaylene Chadwell has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all matches April 2-8 the league announced today.  Chadwell went 4-0 in both singles and doubles last week as the Lady Mocs (14-4, 6-3 SoCon) won conference matches against Davidson (6-1) and Western Carolina (7-0).  It is the second time this spring Chadwell has won the weekly award.  The Player of the Week selection is made by the conference office.

Chadwell began the week with a (3-6, 6-1, ret) win over Western Carolina's Megan McLinden at No. 2 singles.  She then posted a (6-4, 6-1) victory over Davidson's Katharine Dicconson at No. 3.

Chadwell teamed with Alexa Flynn at No. 1 doubles and the Lady Mocs' top pair came away with two victories last week.  Chadwell and Flynn downed WCU's Ainhoa Iglesias Diaz and Megan McLinden, 8-2.  Chattanooga's top doubles team then dropped Davidson's Stephanie Synn and Brites Moniz-Soares, 8-3, to clinch the doubles point.

The Franklin, Tenn., native is now 18-9 in singles play this spring, including a 7-2 mark in league matches.  She leads UTC with a 21-6 doubles record.  The Lady Mocs' 14 victories are the most for UTC since 2000.

This is the first time a Lady Moc has won two SoCon Player of the Week honors in one season since Anastasia Zhokova and Lindsey Ballard both won two in 2006.

The Lady Mocs host Lee University for Senior Day on Wednesday, April 11, at the UTC Tennis Courts.  First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) and a link for live scoring will be available on the women's tennis page on GoMocs.com.  UTC closes out the regular season on Saturday at Samford.
