Polk, Coots and Jones are all four-star recruits, according to Tennisrecruiting.net, with Coots and Jones signing in November. Polk is currently ranked No. 6 in Georgia and has been training at the prestigious Blackman Tennis Academy in Delray Beach, Fla. There she has been under the tutelage of former NCAA Champion, ATP tour professional and USTA Player Development Director Martin Blackman.
"I am delighted that Katie will be joining our tennis program at Chattanooga," stated head coach Jeff Clark. "She brings a wealth of high-level tournament experience, along with a strong work ethic and motivation to improve. With her signing, the future of Chattanooga Tennis looks even brighter."
Storie is a three-star prospect according to TennisRecruiting.net. She is the No. 5 ranked player in the state of Tennessee and, along with Jones (No. 3), gives UTC two of the top five prospects in the state. She has been the No. 1 player at Science Hill High School in each of the last two seasons and recently won the B Flight singles title at the prestigious Rotary High School Tennis Tournament in Chattanooga.
"Alison is a talented player and has been one of the top players in Tennessee," added Clark. "Her best tennis is still ahead of her and I am happy she will be a Chattanooga Moc."
Clark is replacing four seniors from this year's team, including Charlotte Bossy, Emily Hangstefer, Shaina Singh and Brianna Wishing. The Lady Mocs had an outstanding campaign in 2012, finishing with a 16-6 overall record and tying for fourth in the Southern Conference at 6-4. It was their most wins since 1999 and their best league finish since 2001.
