Chattanooga opens the season on Friday, Jan. 25 at the Hixson Racquet Club, taking on the Kennesaw State Owls at 6:00 p.m. (E.S.T.). The season opener is followed by a 2:00 p.m. home match on Saturday, Jan. 26 against Belmont.
The Lady Mocs first outdoor match is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16 against Lee University. This will take place at the UTC Tennis Courts, weather permitting.
Chattanooga opens its SoCon season with a road trip to Boone, N.C. to take on Appalachian State on March 1 at 2:30 p.m. The Southern Conference Tournament is scheduled for April 18-21 at Elon University in Elon, N.C.
The Lady Mocs were fourth in the SoCon with a 6-4 league record last season. UTC finished the year with a 16-6 record, the most wins the program has seen since 1999.
"I am excited about the upcoming season and look forward to seeing how our newcomers mix with the returners," stated Clark. "We had a good fall and our freshmen got some valuable experience at the collegiate level. Our letter winners look strong and we hope to continue to build on the success we had last year."
Chattanooga is returning four letter winners, including senior Jenna Nurik (Roswell, Ga.), a three-time All-SoCon selection, as well as sophomore Kaylene Chadwell (Franklin, Tenn.) who was named the 2012 SoCon Freshman of the Year.
The returners will be joined by five newcomers who are listed as the No. 9 mid-major recruiting class in the nation according to TennisRecruiting.net. This group includes four-star signees Kelsey Coots (Huntsville, Ala.), Katie Polk (Woodstock, Ga.) and Kayla Jones (Memphis, Tenn.), as well as three-star prospect Alison Storie (Johnson City, Tenn.), and Oklahoma State transfer Jovana Pecovski (Apatin, Serbia).
