UTC's Jeff Clark is going for his 100th win as the head coach of the Lady Mocs. He guided the team to a 43-27 record in his first stint at Chattanooga from 1999-01. He is in the sixth year of his second term and has a career record of 99-84.
The Lady Mocs are 4-0 for the second year in a row. UTC has posted three-straight shutouts and has only lost one point this season. The four wins have come against regional foes Kennesaw State (6-1), Belmont (7-0), Middle Tennessee (7-0) and Lipscomb (7-0). The MTSU win snapped a 13-match losing streak against the Blue Raiders and was UTC's first win in the series since 1999.
UTC is led by senior Jenna Nurik (Roswell, Ga.) who is off to a 4-0 start at No. 1. Sophomore Claire Mulyadi (Semarang, Indonesia) and freshmen Kayla Jones (Memphis, Tenn.) and Kelsey Coots (Huntsville, Ala.) are also 4-0 in singles. Junior Alexa Flynn (Memphis, Tenn.) is undefeated in three matches while sophomore Kaylene Chadwell (Franklin, Tenn.) has a 3-1 record.
Flynn and freshman Katie Polk (Woodstock, Ga.) lead the way in doubles with a 3-0 mark while Nurik and Chadwell are 3-1. Coots and Jones are also 3-1 in the spring.
Austin Peay lost its only match of the season, a 7-0 sweep at Samford on Jan. 26. The last time UTC faced the Lady Govs was a 4-3 loss in Clarksville, Tenn, on Feb. 21, 2010. Nurik is the only current Lady Moc who was on the team for that match. She lost her No. 1 bout to Vanja Tomic (6-3, 6-4).
