Women's Tennis Adds to Roster for Spring Season

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis head coach Jeff Clark announced the addition of Rachele Gazzola (rah-KELL-ah GAH-zoh-la) to the Mocs roster today.  Gazzola enrolled at UTC for the spring semester this week and is eligible to begin her career when dual action starts at Austin Peay on Jan. 20.

"We are excited that Rachele has joined our tennis program,” stated Clark.  “She is a talented player who will strengthen our team.  She has a bright future as a tennis player."

Gazzola was born in Cueno, Italy, but currently resides in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, the same island where tennis star Rafael Nadal lives.  She has competed in several ITF Futures events in Spain over the last few years.  She reached the 2011 singles final at the Balearic Championships.  She was coached by Jofre Porta and Sergio Sabadello.

Chattanooga is coming off an 18-5 overall record in 2013, the most wins for the program since 1991.  UTC returns eight of its nine letter winners from last season’s squad that went 12-1 in home dual matches.
