SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The Chattanooga women’s tennis team nabbed its first Southern Conference win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Wofford at the Reeves Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.

Chattanooga freshman Emily Hangstefer clinched the match for the Lady Mocs with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 win at the No. 4 position over her older sister’s team, former UTC women’s tennis player Katie Hangstefer.

The Lady Mocs got wins at the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to clinch the point and take a 1-0 lead. Hangstefer and Grace Robinette defeated Haley Baird and Sabrina Smyers 8-1 at No.2 and Shaina Singh and Annie Green clinched the point with an 8-4 win over Sonia Anand and Kristin Demosthenes at No. 3.
