The women’s tennis team opens the Southern Conference portion of its schedule Saturday at Davidson.  The match begins at noon and will take place at the Knobloch Tennis Center on the Davidson, N.C., campus.

The Lady Mocs are 4-3 on the year after splitting two matches last weekend.  Chattanooga defeated North Alabama last Saturday, 4-3 but lost to UAB, 6-1.

Chattanooga went 2-6 in league play in 2007.  Head Coach Jeff Clark’s lineup includes four players with SoCon experience and three newcomers facing a SoCon foe for the first time.

Seniors Bonnie Adams and Lindsey Ballard, junior Beata Knizat and sophomore Kate Ksiezopolski are all veterans in the SoCon circuit.  Three freshmen, who have each had a hand in more than one team victory this season, will be making the rounds in the conference for the first time.  Joining the veterans are freshmen Annie Green, Grace Robinette and Arianna Sanjines.

The Wildcats were 18-7 overall last year and 7-2 in the SoCon.  They advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament at the end of the year.

This season, Davidson is 6-2 overall, and each of its five wins are by 7-0 scores.

Kelsey Linville leads Head Coach Caroline Price’s squad at the No. 1 singles position.
